Tottenham Hotspur target Ivan Toney remains keen to play for a top club

Tottenham Hotspur target Ivan Toney of Brentford is on the lookout for a bigger club, per Fabrizio Romano’s tweet. The Bees forward has completed his eight-month ban and is now back with the squad, attracting interest from all over.

Fabrizio Romano tweeted Ivan Toney’s statement as given to Sky Sports:

“It’s obvious I want to play for a top club and fight for titles, yes. If a club was to pay the right money… then, who knows. January or whenever is right time, I’ll be ready. I want to enjoy and play now”.

The Independent listed the Premier League clubs eyeing for the 27-year-old striker. As per the media outlet, the West London striker is actively chased by city rivals Arsenal and Chelsea. Tottenham was once in the race as well, however, the asking price seems to be practically impossible for the North Londoners to match.

From his statement, it is evident that Ivan Toney wants a way out and put his skills to better use. Brentford shouldn’t mind letting go of their star man as they have already adapted to his absence. Plus, the sale could mean good business for them.

The ‘Ivan Toney saga’

The English striker was having a dream run last season by scoring 20 goals and assisting four from 33 games last season. His campaign came to an abrupt ending after the FA imposed an eight-month ban on him for numerous breaches of their player betting rules.

The ban has now ended and Toney will be available for Thomas Frank. The Bees manager will be keen to feature his stellar striker in the starting XI. Thomas Frank now also has a formidable presence in the backline in the form of Sergio Reguilon.
