Journalist Dean Jones provides an update on Ivan Toney joining Tottenham Hotspur but other clubs are also interested
According to GIVEMESPORT, famous journalist Dean Jones says that Tottenham Hotspur will be interested in signing the Brentford striker Ivan Toney but there’s surely going to be other PL clubs interested to get his signature as well.
At the opening of this campaign, we lost our star striker Harry Kane and we are planning to complete a few signings in attack as we prepare ourselves for these transfer windows.
Despite securing the signature of Timo Werner earlier this month, it’s worth considering that the RB Leipzig man is currently on loan and may not be the ideal long-term striker that Spurs are looking for.
There has been considerable speculation surrounding Toney’s future, with Brentford manager Frank praising his exceptional talent. However, as of now, no official confirmation has been made regarding a new contract. Tottenham seem to be closely monitoring the situation and may take action if any developments occur.
“The first thing to look for with Toney is whether or not he does actually sign a new contract. There’s been a lot of talk around it. But so far, there’s nothing in place for him to actually do that. And then all the talk around the new contract was that would include a release clause, which would need to be triggered in the summer for somebody to sign him.”
“Now at the moment with that not in place, it obviously seems more feasible that Toney is attainable in the summer. I think there are a lot of clubs that genuinely are looking at Toney, I think that Arsenal and Chelsea are the two main ones. In the background, Tottenham and even Manchester United are having a look just in case the situation could change in a way that suits them.”
There is still a possibility that Spurs could secure the services of the striker. After Kane’s departure and Richarlison’s underwhelming performance, there have been talk linking the North London team with several central attackers, suggesting their intention to strengthen their attacking options.
It seems that the competition for Toney could turn into a battle to secure the required funds ahead of everyone else. Whether Eddie Nketiah goes to Crystal Palace could potentially impact any potential move for Toney by Arsenal. However, Chelsea will also need to raise a substantial amount of money.
However, the Independent suggests that Brentford have placed a hefty price tag of £100m on Ivan Toney, fueling speculation that Chelsea may be interested in offloading players to compete with Arsenal for his services this January.
There is interest from Tottenham Hotspur in Gallagher, but the midfielder is currently focused on sorting out his contract at Stamford Bridge. This is mainly because Mauricio Pochettino has demonstrated a great deal of faith in him.

Even if Postecoglou had considered signing a striker in January, Toney wouldn’t have been a practical option for Spurs. It wouldn’t have made much sense for the team to invest a significant amount in a striker when they have more pressing needs for a centre-back and a winger.
