Tottenham star Ivan Perisic will be returning to his boyhood club Hajduk Split this January
Ivan Perisic moving from Tottenham Hotspur to Hajduk Split is well on course, per Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano. The 34-year-old veteran will be making history in Croatia with this move. The club will be sending him out on loan until the end of the season.
Perisic started his youth career with the Croatian club Hajduk Split. His illustrious career saw him be a part of many major European clubs like Club Brugge, Borussia Dortmund, Wolfsburg, Inter Milan, Bayern Munich and Tottenham Hotspur.
Should the move finalize, Ivan Perisic will be reuniting with his boyhood club after 18 years. The Croatian was signed by Tottenham in 2022 as a free agent by Antonio Conte. The duo worked together previously in Inter Milan and won the Scudetto.
Perisic fell down the pecking order after Ange Postecoglou arrived at the Stamford Bridge. He featured in five games for the North Londoners this season but started none. Perisic boasts only 98 minutes of playing time under the Aussie manager.
Perisic’s career completes a full circle
Ivan Perisic joined the youth setup of his birth city, Split. The Croatian enrolled with Hajduk Split, aged 11 and stayed there for six years before switching to the Sochaux youth team in 2007. He was immediately promoted to the senior team Sochaux II. Perisic had to wait for two more years to attract the attention of a major European club.
Belgium’s top-tier team Club Brugge signed the then-20-year-old Perisic on a three-year deal. His fine performance earned him an invitation to Borussia Dortmund in 2011. The abrupt end to his career at Signal Iduna Park saw him move to Wolfsburg in January 2013. The next destination shaped Ivan Perisic’s career and brought him glory like never before.
After years of waiting, the Croatian found his footing in Serie A with Inter Milan. He won multiple trophies and also served a short season-long loan stint at Bayern Munich during the 2019/20 season. Antonio Conte’s Spurs signed the former Inter Milan man and gave him regular playing time.
