Neville explains the importance of Maddison, Son, Kulusevski, Matar Sarr and Bissouma for Tottenham this season
Gary Neville predicts Tottenham Hotspur to finish second in the Premier League ahead of Arsenal this season according to The Sun. The former Manchester United star speculates The Lilywhites to finish above Arsenal. However, under certain conditions.
According to Neville, Spurs can finish second this season due to the availability of certain five players. The former United defender names Dejan Kulusevski, Heung-min Son, James Maddison, Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma as Tottenham’s game-changers.
Neville said:
I made a statement that I think Tottenham will finish second this season. With the five players they have coming back – Dejan Kulusevski, Heung-min Son, James Maddison, Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma. If they kept them fit, and with the run they’ve got, they could push Arsenal and Liverpool to second place. Is that a mad statement?
Gary Neville believes Tottenham can propel themselves should Ange Postecoglou manage to keep these players fit. The statement must have fumed Arsenal fans who are already dreaming of their club’s comeback to claim the ultimate glory.
The base of Neville’s predictions
While Gary Neville’s speculation raised many eyebrows, his statement cannot be termed ‘outrageous’. Spurs are currently fifth on the league table with 40 points. There are 17 games left for the North Londoners turn to the tide.
We all saw the way Tottenham registered a strong start to the campaign with 10 unbeaten games. The fine run came to an end after a series of injuries. Among all, James Maddison’s injury affected them the most. He was prolific in terms of playmaking and setting the tone of the game.
Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma held the defensive midfielders’ role finely. No words are needed to explain Heung-min Son’s role. Although, the skipper is away on national duty right now. Lastly, Dejan Kulusevksi is the man who donned multiple roles for his manager in the absence of several players.
