Ian Wright is shocked to learn that Eric Dier moved to a bigger club than Tottenham
EPL legend Ian Wright expressed his shock at Eric Dier moving from Tottenham Hotspur to Bayern Munich via the Wrighty’s House podcast. Wright explains how he is shocked to learn that Dier couldn’t find his space within Spurs but joined a bigger team.
He says:
“Amazing. It’s like Eric Dier, can’t get into the Tottenham side, (he then) signs for Bayern Munich. What in the world?!”
Eric Dier spent close to a decade at North London but he faded out, especially after Ange Postecoglou’s arrival. The versatile defender was left out of favour despite multiple injuries and suspensions at the club.
Even Micky van de Ven’s injury and Cristian Romero’s suspension didn’t earn him a permanent spot under The Lilywhites boss. Ian Wright’s reaction is only natural, just like the rest of us. Many did expect the English defender to look for a new club but not as massive as Bayern Munich.
Is Eric Dier’s Bundesliga debut on the cards?
The former Tottenham star trained under Thomas Tuchel immediately after his touchdown at Munich. However, Dier was in the stands as Bayern Munich faced Hoffenheim last weekend.
Matthijs De Ligt‘s injury should be a green light for Eric Dier who is preferred to be deployed as a centre-back as mentioned by his new head coach. The Bavarians host Werder Bremen this Sunday in a crucial fixture.
Thomas Tuchel and Co. will be going all guns blazing to cut the gap between league leaders Bayer Leverkusen. Seven points separate the two, however, Bayern have two games in hand to get closer to their rivals. The Werder Bremen game will be also crucial for Eric Dier should he be given an opportunity.
