Tottenham Hotspur reject Al-Nassr move for Emerson Royal
Tottenham Hotspur have rejected a bid from Saudi club Al-Nassr for their versatile defender, Emerson Royal.
The offer, as per The Sun is in the region of £20m, but Spurs have turned it down as they weigh their options and assess the player’s importance to the squad.
The 25-year-old Brazilian has showcased his versatility by featuring not only as a right-back but also filling in at left-back and centre-back when necessary. Despite facing competition from Pedro Porro for the right-back position, Royal has adapted to different roles in the defence, making him a valuable asset for manager Ange Postecoglou.
The rejected bid from Al-Nassr indicates interest in the Brazilian defender from abroad, but Tottenham appear to be evaluating their stance on the potential transfer. Emerson Royal has expressed satisfaction with his current situation at the North London club, indicating that he sees centre-back as one of his new positions, and he has performed well in that role in recent months. He has made 18 appearances across all competitions this season.
Ange Postecoglou has acknowledged Royal’s contributions, naming him one of his three best trainers earlier in the season. This acknowledgement underscores the player’s importance not just in matches but also in training, showcasing his dedication and commitment to the team.
As the transfer window progresses, it remains to be seen whether Al-Nassr will return with an improved offer for Emerson.
