Gary Neville is critical of Chelsea for deciding to sell Conor Gallagher
Manchester United legend Gary Neville expressed his shock over Chelsea FC’s decision to offload Conor Gallagher, reports Metro. While Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino hasn’t clearly spoken about his desire to sell the homeboy, the signs point towards that direction.
During the commentary for Sky Sports (h/t Metro), Gary Neville said:
‘Are Chelsea really going to sell him?’
Neville’s co-commentator, Bill Leslie highlighted a point about Conor Gallagher’s exclusion from the starting XI. To which Gery Neville replied:
‘Yeah, that’s what I thought when I saw the teamsheet come through.
The former Red Devils defender believes Conor Gallagher is being subjected to unfair treatment as it appears that the club has to sell someone after spending a fortune lately. He added that Chelsea chose one of their own, in-form player, to earn a handsome fee.
Pochettino evaded the direct question regarding Gallagher’s exit earlier this month as reported by Metro. He gave a diplomatic response saying, that anything can happen in football.
Tottenham happy to learn about the Gallagher situation?
Signing Radu Dragusin and Timo Werner hasn’t quenched Ange Postecoglou’s thirst. He is on the market for a midfielder and is arguably looking at every option out there.
Antonia Nusa from Club Brugge is his priority. However, it is another forward and the deal might not come to fruition until summer. Their pursuit for Royal Antwerp star Arthur Vermeeren is almost hijacked by Atletico Madrid.
Conor Gallagher will be more than what Ange Postecoglou can ask or want at the moment. The 23-year-old has six goals and five assists from 27 games across all competitions. A regular figure for Pochettino, he will also be hoping for a spot in the starting XI should he sign for Spurs.

Problems will arise for the Aussie manager if he signs Gallagher and will also have Maddison return from the injury. Having two central midfielders of such calibre can be a bad thing just as good as it is.
