Tottenham Hotspur head coach expects a dramatic clash in the FA Cup fixture against Manchester City
Ange Postecoglou assures fans of a fine show in the FA Cup against Manchester City, per The Standard. Speaking to the Standard Sport, the Spurs manager said his team “will have a crack” at the title holders.
The North Londoners will be looking forward to maintaining their fine home record against Pep Guardiola’s squadron. City are yet to find the net at Spurs’ home ever since the latter moved away from White Hart Lane.
The Australian is looking forward to hurting Pep’s dream at another treble by kicking them out of the FA Cup. However, they will be going against a fully equipped Manchester City that also has Kevin de Bruyne by their side. The Lilywhites gaffer was particular about the Belgian.
Focusing too much on KDB will be like falling into the trap as per Postecoglou. He emphasized the quality of Manchester City as a team and how an overall focus is required to grab victory.
The good and bad news for Ange
Tottenham will be without their star-man Heung-min Son who is currently serving national duty. They will also be without Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr, for the same reason.
Giovani Lo Celso, Manor Solomon, Alejo Veliz and Ryan Sessegnon are sidelined due to injuries. Among all the bad news, there is James Maddison’s expected return to boost the supporters. The former Leicester man was a crucial figure in helping Spurs register arguably their strongest campaign.
The former Celtic boss is too careful about not adding too much pressure on Maddison right away. He also reflected on the scintillating game that went down the wire the last team these two sides collided. Postecoglou recalled:
“I loved the 3-3 at their place. It was a cracking game. There were so many storylines within the game, I loved that”.
