Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s lawyer says that he won’t be leaving the club this transfer window
According to The Standard (h/t BBC), Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg‘s lawyer says that he won’t be leaving the club this transfer window despite many rumors indicating his departure from our club.
His agent Lars Halgreen has vehemently denied any speculation connecting the Dane to a potential transfer to Lyon. Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has consistently fielded Hojbjerg in almost every match this season, and the player’s representative has firmly stated that there are no plans for him to depart this month.
The move however fell flat and the Denmark international had to settle for a less prominent position behind other preferred midfield options. In all competitions, he went on to make seven starts and 16 substitute appearances with his future being a subject of continuous transfer speculations.
After coming up to Spurs in 2020, Hojbjerg has shown incredible gameplay and achieved ten goals while making fifteen assists out of 168 games played across all tournaments. Hojbjerg is set to appear within the Spurs’ starting eleven on Wednesday evening when playing against Brentford. This is very likely since Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma are appearing for their nations during the Africa Cup of Nations.
Despite the interest from clubs like Juventus and Napoli, negotiations have hit a roadblock as Spurs’ asking price has not been met. Nevertheless, it seems improbable that he will depart in January. The only circumstances under which he would be permitted to leave are if Tottenham Hotspur secures a suitable replacement or if an irresistible offer is presented.
In the midst of all the transfer rumours, Hojbjerg’s performance remains consistently impressive, solidifying his role as a crucial member of the squad for the upcoming season.
