Samuel Iling-Junior, Matias Soule, Sebastian Szymanski and Jota are Spurs’ priority targets
Tottenham Hotspur have short-listed four men ahead of the deadline day, per Sports Bible. Despite all the hype around Spurs’ possible January signings, they have had a rather quiet window this term.
Ange Postecoglou could manage to get only Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin in this transfer window. He faced snub during the pursuit of Antonio Nusa, Thomas Vermeeren and Kalvin Phillips. This has urged the Spurs boss to complete at least one signing before the window shuts close.
The team is reported to have shortlisted Samuel Iling-Junior and Matias Soule from Juventus, Sebastian Szymanski of Fenerbahce and Jota of Al Ittihad, per Team Talk. All of these targets are attackers, helping us understand Ange’s priority.
The North Londoners have a crucial remainder of the season awaits. They are currently fifth on the league table and will be gunning for the top four spots or even the ultimate glory, should everything go as per the plan.
The chaos at the Spurs camp
Tottenham’s season has been nothing short of a dramatic movie. From being at the top of the Premier League table, they saw a consistent drop in points, form and players’ fitness. Furthermore, the club had to let go of three of their first-team players to fulfil national duties.
The Spurs gaffer turned to the January transfer window to reinforce his side but faced disappointments via transfer hijacks. Antonio Nusa was hijacked by Brentford just as Vermeeren by Atletico Madrid and Kalvin Philips by West Ham.
As discussed earlier, the Lilywhites are chasing further targets and have shortlisted four of them. All four are youngsters without much experience in the kind of football EPL demands. More than the requirement, it now feels like Ange Postecoglou’s personal goal after being snubbed by several of his targets.
