Chelsea main man Conor Gallagher happy to remain in West London
Conor Gallagher is not ‘too keen’ on leaving Chelsea, per GiveMeSport. This comes off as a major heartbreak for Tottenham, who had the Chelsea man on their priority list for quite some time.
Gallagher has been a crucial figure at Stamford Bridge, especially when Mauricio Pochettino struggling to cope with increasing injury woes. He is also the stand-in captain for the Blues. Which is why many could not understand why the club put him up for sale.
Chelsea needed to secure their balance sheet and offloading an academy product seemed like a viable option. None could bring in the kind of money that Gallagher can. Ange Postecoglou has been on the lookout for a man in the middle of the park after securing the frontal unit with Timo Werner and the defensive side with Radu Dragusin.
The midfield requirement peaked with Hojbjerg’s exit rumours taking rounds. With him deciding to stay in North London, at least for the remainder of the season, there is no urgency from the Aussie manager’s side to recruit someone.
A rather quiet transfer window
Not just Spurs, but the entire Premier League endured a rather quiet transfer window. This should be the result of the strict Financial Fair Play and the Profit and Sustainability rules. The FA has been cracking down on clubs breaching the protocols.
This has prevented many clubs from splashing money and avoiding penalties like Everton did. The stringent policies have made clubs reluctant to go all guns blazing. However, the rules weren’t the factors that stopped Tottenham from recruiting players.
Despite having access to funds from Daniel Levy, Spurs couldn’t quite land their targets. Antonio Nusa, Arthur Vermeeren and Kalvin Phillips snubbed the North London outfit to join other clubs.

Perhaps the increased competition with the Tottenham squadron is the reason. With only a few hours left for the window to shut close, Tottenham might have to postpone their plans of landing Conor Gallagher.
