Lazio hoping to sign Bryan Gil from Spurs while facing competition from Brighton
Bryan Gil is raising interest from Lazio over a possible swift move, per Caught Offside (h/t Corriere dello Sport). The Spaniard has proven to be useful for his manager, who was left with limited players due to injuries and suspensions.
However, that doesn’t seem to be enough for the 22-year-old to cement his place in the Tottenham starting XI. His playing time is restricted to being a late substitute on most occasions.
It was against Aston Villa back in November that Gil accumulated a considerable number of minutes (71). He also featured against Manchester City, the very next week, for the entire first half in a 3-3 draw. Gil has no goals or assists this season.
Truth be told, the Spaniard hasn’t been given enough chance to make a mark for himself. He is desperate for time on the pitch and the Serie A outfit should be a fine option. Spurs are also considering options from Brighton to offload the winger as a loanee, per The Standard.
North London is a lost cause for Gil
Bryan Gil’s services were required by his coach during desperate times. Even then, his appearances were limited to mere minutes and never full 90 minutes. Considering the present scenario, the chances are even slimmer for the Spanish youngster to hope for a place.
The club has signed Timo Werner, who has reprised his role as a left-winger for Ange Postecoglou. It also happens to be Bryan Gil’s natural position. There is also Brennan Johnson, massively favoured by Ange over Gil, as a backup LW.
The return of Heung-min Son will knock Bryan Gil’s final hopes out of the park for good. A new destination is the only option available for the Spaniard, should he hope for some individual development.
