Tottenham Hotspur new signing Lucas Bergvall says it was his dream to play in the PL
According to Fabrizio Romano’s recent tweet on X, Tottenham Hotspur new signing Lucas Bergvall who ditched FC Barcelona said that it was his dream to play in the highly competitive Premier League and that Spurs is a great club.
Bergvall said:
“It’s always been my dream to play in the Premier League, the best league in the world. Tottenham is a big, big club”.
Spurs were successful in persuading Bergvall to commit to the Premier League club for the foreseeable future, despite the fact that he appeared to be heading to Barcelona to sign with them after visiting the city earlier this week. On Friday, which happened to be his 18th birthday, Bergvall had a physical at Tottenham’s facility and was present during Monday’s training session.

Bergvall, who had a breakout season with Swedish club Djurgarden, has signed a contract to play for Spurs until 2029, but will not officially join until the summer. In his first season, the 2006-born midfielder, 6ft1, scored three goals and made one assist in 25 top-flight games. He started 11 times and played 90 minutes in all of his team’s last 5 league games.
Bergvall is set to spend the next five months with Djurgarden before joining his new club on July 1. He joins the team as their third signing of the winter window, following the acquisitions of Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin.
Spurs are striving to achieve two goals with their recruitment strategy. They aim to develop a squad that can effectively execute Postecoglou’s football style in the coming years, while also addressing immediate gaps to secure a return to the Champions League.
Bergvall meets the first requirement, while Dragusin meets both. It’s possible that Werner could address both issues, but his signing was mainly intended to provide a temporary solution and bolster a squad area that has appeared weak this season.

It seems that Ange Postecoglou made it clear that he didn’t expect any miracles, but Bergvall’s decision was truly remarkable, especially considering how uneventful the transfer window had been for most teams. Postecoglou’s tenure at Spurs is still in its early stages, but there is a sense that his strategic choices are bolstering the team’s strength.
