Tottenham star Micky van de Ven is the fastest Premier League player this season
Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven has recorded the highest top speed in an English top-flight game so far this season, per Squawka. His top speed (37.38 km/h) topples Kyle Walker’s 37.31 km/h (from 2022/23). The Sky Blues defender is one of the fastest players in the PL history.
The impressive stat was shared by Squawka via their X post. The Dutchman achieved this feat while chasing Everton’s Jack Harrison who was heading for a one-on-one against Guglielmo Vicario.
The 22-year-old made a stunning recovery run to deny the opposition from scoring and to register the record. The former Wolfsburg defender has quickly adapted to Ange Postecoglou’s tactics.

It's also faster than the quickest speed from 2022/23 (Kyle Walker – 37.31km/h).
But VDV has named a Spurs and Arsenal player he thinks are both quicker. 💨
However, when asked if he is the fastest player at Tottenham Hotspur, Micky was humble to take Destiny Udogie’s name. The conversation happened on the Premier League’s Uncut show on YouTube. He also believes Arsenal’s William Saliba is faster than him.
All but nothing
We did see what Micky van de Ven can achieve despite his tall stature. Pace is one of the most notable attributes for a defender and VDV has proven his worth in that aspect. The Dutchman also named Destiny Udogie as faster than him.
We have also seen Brennan Johnson and Heung-min Son set the pitch on fire with their sudden burst of pace. With all boxes ticked, what is lacking for the Lilywhites? Ange Postecoglou’s side is struggling with consistency.
Despite boasting a horde of talented individuals, Tottenham aren’t able to function as a unit on a constant basis. On their best day, they could take down any club. On the other hand, the club couldn’t even stand their ground against a relegation-zoned Everton.
