BBC Sports Journalist Sutton predicts 3-2 win for Spurs
BBC Sports columnist Chris Sutton predicts Tottenham to win against Brighton in this week’s fixture. The pundit speculates the scoreline to be 3-2 for the home team.
Sutton highlights the positive aspects of the North Londoners. He spoke about the return of Heung-min Son, Richarlison’s fine form and James Maddison’s adaptation. The journo also revealed he has a hard time predicting the end result due to the ‘inconsistency’ of Brighton.
True to every word, the Seagulls have been quite unpredictable this season. There were times when they faced bitter defeats at the hands of underdogs and also when they lived up to the moniker ‘giant killers’.
Roberto de Zerbi’s men sit eighth in the league table while Ange’s squadron occupies the fifth spot. Both sides have similar results (W2 D2 L1) from the last five games. However, Brighton’s last game ended up in a win, whereas, Spurs settled for a disappointing draw.
Dissecting Sutton’s words
Chris Sutton did highlight a few points about the present Tottenham Hotspur. The club rode on fine form until November before dropping their form and positions in the table. It all began with that thumping 4-1 loss against Chelsea in November.
The Lilywhites lost Maddison and van de Ven to injuries and Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie to suspensions. The fateful London derby marked the downfall of Spurs. This was soon followed by the departure of Bissouma, Matar Sarr and Heung-min Son for international duties.
Things started getting back on track for Postecoglou & Co. in January. Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin’s arrival was the first of many good news. The manager also welcomed Micky van de Ven and James Maddison back from injuries.

He also has Bissouma, Sarr and Son back in the squad. The dangerous Tottenham duo, Maddison-Son, will be playing together for the first time since November. The Brighton clash could mark Tottenham’s new beginning this season and for seasons to come.
