Tony Cascarino says Tottenham star Timo Werner has a very predictable style of play
Former footballer and talkSPORT pundit Tony Cascarino claims Timo Werner to be predictable while talking to his co-host Natalie Sawyer on the YouTube podcast. The five-minute 17-second video was entirely about Timo Werner’s role at Spurs. He said:
“The one thing you can’t be as a sportsman, any sports you do, you can’t be predictable. Whatever sports you do and he’s so predictable how he wants to play.”
The duo further compared the star from his Chelsea days with Natalie Sawyer saying,
“I felt like, when he was at Chelsea, he worked really hard.”
Timo Werner had a remarkable debut with Tottenham Hotspur where he registered an assist against Manchester United. He repeated the same form against Brentford the very next week.
Werner has no goals to his name in the Spurs shirt yet, putting him under the scope of talkSPORT pundits. Ange might not agree with them though.
Werner, a burden?
Ange Postecoglou is a smart manager. By now we should be certain that he isn’t someone who would go for a panic buy. When he went knocking on RB Lepzeig’s door for Werner, he knew what he wanted.
It was Ange who helped Werner reprise his position as a left-winger. The German had accepted centre-forward as his main role until recently. The former Celtic boss knows that he needs someone to aid Richarlison, who is a better option at the centre.
No matter what and who criticizes Timo Werner, he has his manager’s backing. Postecoglou has started Timo Werner in every game since his arrival. The head coach trusts his January signing and that’s all that matters.

Richarlison’s newfound form should be a lesson for critics who are too soon to judge. Even though, it wasn’t actually ‘too soon’ in Richarlison’s case. But it is when it comes to Werner. Perhaps the time when Timo Werner will surprise us all is around the corner.
