Spurs still hold interest in Barcelona star despite astronomical Saudi offer

Barcelona winger Raphinha could be on his way back to the Premier League if Tottenham honcho Daniel Levy forks out £60m

According to the Spanish outlet Fichajes, Tottenham Hotspur are looking forward to signing the FC Barcelona attacking-winger Raphinha if the club chairman Daniel Levy sanctions a hefty sum of £60m.

Given the Premier League’s reputation for lavish spending on transfers, Barcelona is unlikely to be the only club vying for Raphinha’s signature. To capitalize on this opportunity, securing sufficient funding is crucial. Raphinha’s tenure with Barcelona has been akin to a roller coaster ride. While he has shown flashes of brilliance under Xavi Hernandez’s management, consistency remains a challenge, particularly due to injuries hindering his progress.

Spurs have demonstrated impressive performances in the past two transfer windows, indicating their readiness to maintain momentum into the upcoming summer. Raphinha is currently on their radar, and they are keen to swiftly finalize the deal.

Barcelona acquired Raphinha from Leeds United before the commencement of the previous season as part of a £55 million deal. The Brazilian player showcased outstanding performance in the Premier League while playing for Leeds, attracting interest from numerous clubs, including Tottenham, before making his move to Spain.

In 21 games this season, Raphinha has scored only four goals and provided seven assists. The rivalry between fans in North London, particularly Arsenal and Spurs, is fierce. This brings to light Tottenham fans who admire Raphinha but are not excited about his comments regarding Arsenal.

It seems that Raphinha has a limited timeframe of four months to turn his Barca career around. If he doesn’t show improvement by the end of the season, he may find himself on the transfer market in the summer. As long as Spurs benefit, we can’t complain.

If Joao Felix joins permanently from Atletico Madrid at the end of the season, it will greatly increase the likelihood of the Catalans selling Raphinha. We hope that Levy provides us with the much-needed funds in order to sign the talented Brazilian. He has prior experience in the league which makes us think that he can once again showcase his dominance in the English league.
