Dressing room ‘fight’ between Son and Lee Kang-in ended up badly for the Tottenham captain
Tottenham Hotspur skipper Heung-min Son returned to North London with a broken finger, per The Mirror. Sonny sustained an injury to his finger following an altercation with his teammates, particularly PSG’s Lee Kang-in.
As tweeted by Korea Football News, the incident happened during South Korea’s team dinner before the Asian Cup semifinals against Jordan. The media states that the team eats together to fortify their unity but things took a wrong turn during the event.
It is said that young players including Lee Kang-in, Seol Young-woo, and Jung Woo-young ate early and played table tennis. The careless act and noisy play didn’t sit well with the team captain Heung-min Son, who confronted them.
The incident led to the Spurs captain holding Lee by the collar, leading him to swing his fist at his captain. Though Son managed to dodge it, it ended up busting his fingers. Son was seen with a tap to his index and middle fingers during the semi-final loss.
The injury curse continues
Tottenham players are having a tough period in terms of injuries. The North Londoners endured a topsy-turvy campaign majorly due to injury woes. Now that the team is finally looking back in shape, there comes Sonny Boy as if mimicking Kareem Benzema’s signature ‘taped fingers’.
Heung-min Son resumed right from where he had left in terms of performance. He has been phenomenal for Ange right upon arrival. However, the injury to his fingers was noticed by many.
Considering the nature of the season, Son should have been more careful dealing with such scenarios. He cannot afford an injury that could leave his club in trouble. More than the injury, it is the cause that irks the fans.
