Leeds United wants to sign the Tottenham Hotspur defender Joe Rodon on a permanent basis in the summer transfer window

According to LeedsLive (h/t Football.London), Leeds United are looking to sign the Tottenham Hotspur defender Joe Rodon permanently in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The asking price for the Welsh international falls within the range of £10-£15 million. Rodon has undoubtedly been the standout player for the Whites this campaign, playing a pivotal role as the club pushes for automatic promotion.

Rodon has been instrumental in United’s impressive record of 13 clean sheets, currently tied for the most in the league. In the 2023/24 campaign, the Whites boast a defensive record that is second only to table-topping Leicester City.

Leeds’ failure to secure a spot in the top tier could pose financial difficulties for them in purchasing Rodon permanently. Currently, the Whites trail Southampton by a point, who occupy the second automatic promotion position. Their recent string of league victories extends to six, including a comfortable 3-0 win away to Rotherham United.

It appears Leeds fans are rallying around the club to secure Rodon permanently. However, their original loan agreement with Spurs did not afford them that opportunity. The Yorkshire club must negotiate with Tottenham if they intend to sign the Welsh player permanently. Rodon’s impressive performances this season are likely to attract interest from other clubs and potentially increase his market value.

Despite currently standing second, Leeds are only two points behind Southampton, who suffered a 3-1 defeat against Bristol City. Although Leeds have played an additional game compared to their promotion rivals, their performance since the start of the year has been nothing short of fantastic.

Financial stability comes from promotion to the Premier League. Rodon can play a huge role in the Peackocks’ promotion hopes and could very well develop into a star man for them should a permanent agreement be reached.

There’s a slim chance he’ll be a crucial part of Ange Postecoglou’s long-term plans, which might pave the way for a departure in the summer. Having signed Micky van de Ven and Radu Dragusin, it is clear that Leeds are keen to address their centre-back demands from elsewhere.
