Manchester United are looking to hijack Tottenham Hotspur target Jarrad Branthwaite in the summer transfer window
According to the Metro, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are leading the race to sign Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite. It’s going to be a great battle that awaits for one of the Premier League’s rising talents.
Despite conceding just 32 goals in 24 matches this season, Everton finds themselves in the relegation zone. Following his return from PSV Eindhoven, Branthwaite played a significant role in the defensive improvement.
Branthwaite, who joined Everton during the winter transfer window in 2020, has become one of the most important players in the squad. Initially seen as a talented rising star who might not participate in significant matches for Everton in the early years of his career, that perception has since changed.
The youngster solidified his position in Everton’s starting lineup after a standout loan period at PSV Eindhoven last season. Throughout the current season, he has been a regular presence in defence, and his consistent performances have attracted significant interest from clubs in England and across Europe.
While Manchester United have hinted at their interest in the young talented defender, the summer transfer window has yet to arrive. The upcoming transfer window presents the first golden opportunity for INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe to inject fresh talent into the United team, with a focus on developing young players. At 21 years old, Branthwaite is indeed a brilliant young footballer. His acquisition also aligns with the manager’s desire to strengthen the left-sided centre-back
Tottenham started off strong under Ange Postecoglou, but our limited squad depth has been a hindrance. The team’s defensive injuries have underscored the need for another young defender, and Branthwaite seems to be a great addition to the roster.

Due to a points deduction earlier in the season, the Merseyside club finds themselves in a relegation battle. The player’s price will be determined by their ability to stay in the top flight.
However, if we can finish higher in the table, especially above Manchester United, then we surely have a greater chance of securing his signature. United are a formidable club and may seek a way to surpass us. To prevent that from happening, securing victories in each of the next fixtures should be our motto.
