Journalist Dean Jones says that there’s a higher chance of Tottenham Hotspur signing Conor Gallagher after his diminished value
According to GIVEMESPORT, famous journalist Dean Jones says that Tottenham Hotspur now have a higher chance of signing the Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher after his diminishing value. Spurs have been eyeing the player for a while now, and the decrease in value could speed up a potential transfer in the summer.
Jones said:
“His value is dropping. You could say his realistic value in the market is around £30million or £35million at the moment, and I think Tottenham would be willing to pay that.”
Tottenham were actively seeking to add another midfielder to their squad, with Gallagher being their top choice. Unfortunately, a transfer did not happen, and Gallagher is set to stay with Chelsea until the season concludes. Seen as a crucial figure at Stamford Bridge, the 24-year-old’s contract expires in 2025, putting Chelsea in a position to make a significant choice during the upcoming transfer window.
Jones speculates that Tottenham might be willing to discuss a £35 million deal with Gallagher once the transfer window is re-opened. The manager is aware that Chelsea may have to drop their asking price because of the player’s contract status that may cause prospective buyers to stay away from matching their monetary valuation of £50 million.
The experienced reporter knows that the team from North London hesitated to start negotiations in early 2024 because of the high price set for the player. However, they are still keen on the player and are considering the optimal timing to make a formal bid. Tottenham will be eager to secure Champions League qualification, and the 23-year-old Chelsea midfielder could have a significant impact for us from the start of the next season.
However, in the January transfer window, Spurs made reinforcement in defence and offence in preparation for the second half of the season. Genoa’s new signing Radu Dragusin came in for a hefty fee of £26.7m to challenge Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero in defence, as Timo Werner sealed a loan move to the North London side from RB Leipzig.
