Former captain Hugo Lloris says he is grateful for the farewell right before leaving for the MLS
Tottenham Hotspur cult hero Hugo Lloris bids farewell and speaks about the farewell he received. The former Spurs captain was speaking to media outlet Sky Sports Premier League. A short video clip was shared by the latter via their X (formerly Twitter) handle. Lloris says:
“The club, they were amazing. They organized farewell in the best way and I’m really grateful for that. Obviously comes from the club so it means that probably I did quite well.”
The Frenchman also added that it is just a goodbye and he will forever be a Spurs member. Lloris also expressed that he believes he has left a forever mark in the Spurs history books and the farewell he received is a testament to the same.
Hugo Lloris was signed by Tottenham in 2012. He became a prominent member right away and the club captain four years later. With 444 appearances across all competitions, Lloris is the third-most player with most appearances in Tottenham.
The journey
Hugo Lloris fell out of favour by the end of the 2022/23 season. The club brought in Guglielmo Vicario as their numero uno the following season. The Lilywhites also announced Heung-min Son to be their new captain.
The French goalkeeper was left out of the squad by his new manager Ange Postecoglou. He trained with the team until December. The winter window brought Lloris a new opportunity as LAFC came looking for the goalie.
The 37-year-old leaves North London after spending 11 seasons. Despite his recent exclusion from the team affairs, Lloris has left a lasting legacy that not many can match.

Thankfully for Tottenham fans, his replacement, Guglielmo Vicario is filling the void quite well for a fresher. He does not boast enough clean sheets this season but was nominated for Save of the Month for five consecutive months between August and December.
