Chelsea Conor Gallagher continues to be linked with Tottenham Hotspur
Chelsea star Conor Gallagher has been subject to interest from Tottenham Hotspur over a potential transfer in the 2024 summer transfer window. The 24-year-old midfielder has been linked with a move to North London for the last two transfer windows.
He is said to have impressed Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou with his performances for Chelsea. Gallagher has been the midfield engine at Stamford Bridge. He not only intensively presses the opponents but is also determined to track back. The 24-year-old works hard for the team and is one of the players that runs the most in the game irrespective if he is having a bad day at work or not.
The England international is in sublime form lately. He has scored four goals in his last five appearances for Chelsea. The 24-year-old also wears the captain’s armband at Chelsea following Reece James’ absence owing to injury. Tottenham and Ange Postecoglou like what they see and want to bring him to North London in the summer.
Conor determined to stay at Chelsea
However according to a report by The Metro, Gallagher is keen stay at Chelsea and fight for his place at Stamford Bridge rather than moving away. Given his performances this season, there is little doubt that he is one of the Blues’ standout performers.
The 24-year-old only has eighteen months on his current contract at Chelsea. However, he is happy at with the Blues while being determined to prove himself. Staying at Stamford Bridge is said to be one of his ‘priorities’. Whether the Blues can reach an agreement with him to extend his stay remains to be seen.
As of now, there hasn’t been significant progress in Conor Gallagher’s contract negotiations with Chelsea. His current contract with the Blues expires in the summer of 2025, prompting Chelsea to make a decision rather than risking losing him for free or diminishing his value.
Chelsea may have additional motivation to sell Gallagher. Meeting Premier League profit and sustainability regulations is crucial, and selling an academy product like Gallagher would register as pure profit in the financial records. This could aid Chelsea in complying with Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations.
