Dele Alli future at Everton depends on the negotiation of the ‘clause’ with Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham’s fan-favourite Dele Alli could start a new life at Everton, according to The Sun. The former Spurs and England star moved to Goodison Park in January 2022, signing a two-and-a-half-year contract. The media outlet reveals that no upfront cost was paid by Everton to Tottenham.
There was, however, a clause added that stated, the Merseysiders would have to shell out £10m bonus payment when Alli completes 20 games for the Toffees. He has featured for them in 13 Premier League games for them so far. The amount seems too big considering Everton’s financial situation at the moment.
The Sun reported on 3 November 2023 about Sean Dyche’s revelations about Everton’s attempt at negotiating the clause. Dele Alli last played for Besiktas in February 2023 while on loan from Everton. His season ended abruptly following a muscle injury. He returned to Everton to nurse his injury.
The 27-year-old hasn’t broken into Sean Dyche’s squad yet, but Everton are willing to help the former Tottenham star reignite his career. It all depends on the negotiation with the Lilywhites it seems.
The downfall of a superstar
Alli was a cult hero at Tottenham. He made his Tottenham debut in 2015 and remained with the club until January 2022. His form started fading in 2018. Dele Alli was dropped from the England squad in 2019. He last featured for the Three Lions in the Third Place Play-Off of the UEFA Nations League Finals.
Alli played the entire 120 minutes where England defeated Switzerland on penalties after extra time. His last game in a Tottenham outfit came in the Third Round of the FA Cup against Morecambe FC on 9th January 2022. He joined Everton close to the deadline day and was loaned to Besiktas in the subsequent window.

His fate wasn’t any different in Turkiye and returned to Everton following the injury. The former Spurs superstar has a real shot at redemption with Sean Dyche’s side. However, it depends on how well the negotiation process on both ends.
