James Maddison is full of praise of manager Ange Postecoglou after Spurs beat Villa
Tottenham Hotspur were surely at their convincing best in their 4-0 win over Aston Villa at Villa Park. This win means we are two points short of Unai Emery’s side with a game in hand over them. In case we win our next game against Fulham away, we shall leapfrog the Midlanders to the fourth spot on the table. James Maddison is one happy man after the performance against Villa and was full of praise for Ange Postecoglou and his tactics.
The second half of the game showed why Tottenham are one of the best teams in the league on counters. Four goals. The first two were within three minutes of each other, and the final two were within three minutes. Madders was the one who initiated the onslaught with his opener in the 53rd minute. Brennan Johnson, Son Heung-min and Timo Werner found the backline to settle the issue. Speaking of the tactics, here is what Maddison had to say via BBC:
“I love the way this manager wants us to play, I love the way the team plays, the personal in this side. It suits me. I feel like I’m getting somewhere close to my best again.”
Well in, Madders! This is the mentality that the entire team needs to show as the rest of the season dawns upon us. We are in the midst of a crucial run of games which can certainly go a long way in helping Tottenham secure a UCL spot and we cannot afford to drop our guard at any cost.
Bright future under AngeBall!
Maddison has four goals and eight assists to his name in 19 appearances across all competitions this season and the timing of him getting on the scoresheet surely couldn’t get any better.
For the former Leicester man, the victory was about more than just the final scoreline. It was a validation of Big Ange’s philosophy and a testament to the determination of the entire squad. Each goal scored reflected the team’s commitment to the manager’s vision and the ability to execute his game plan precisely and with panache.
Looking ahead, Maddison, like the rest of us sees boundless potential for Tottenham under Postecoglou’s leadership. With performances like the one against Villa, the team has certainly shown that they are capable of competing at the highest level and challenging for silverware. Mind you, Villa are a very good side.
The momentum generated by such a dominant display will certainly serve as a springboard for future success, and Maddison is eager to continue playing his part in Tottenham’s quest for glory.

With Ange Postecoglou leading the way, the future is bright for Tottenham Hotspur. It just boils down to consistency and sustainability of the game plan. While it is surely eye-catching, the tactics still have some holes to fill, and adapting that to each situation will also play a huge role in how successful Tottenham are in the near future and beyond.
