Three Tottenham Hotspur stars make the cut in the WhoScored TOTW 28
When stakes are high and chips are against you, your mettle and belief are tested. That was the case at the weekend as Tottenham Hotspur headed to Villa Park to face Unai Emery’s Aston Villa side for a potential top-four decider.
Pundits and fans across were quick to tag the fixture with a ‘do or die’ label owing to the eight-point gap it would have created if Spurs were to end up on the losing side. Ange Postecoglou’s side had other plans and produced a five-star performance scoring four goals and coming away with the three points at the weekend.
Following a cagey first half which could barely separate both the clubs, the visitors came into the second with intent as Spurs notched two in the space of three minutes with a near-post finish from James Maddison, who scored his first goal since October 2023 when he netted the winner in a 2-0 win against Fulham, and Brennan Johnson.
The clash became difficult for the hosts when John McGinn was shown the red card following a nasty challenge on Destiny Udogie after 65 minutes. While Villa were trying to get back, Heung-min Son and Timo Werner netted in stoppage time to make it four for Spurs.
Three of the Tottenham stars earned themselves a place in Whoscored starting lineup for the Gameweek 28. Cristian Romero with a score of 7.90 was at the heart of defence alongside Robinson. Brennan Johnson’s goal helped him take a place on the left wing with a score of 8.17 while a goal complemented by two assists meant Son Heung-min led the line at a 9.35 rating.

While there is still a long way to go, it is heartening to see that our players are up for the challenge while facing off against our rivals. Hopefully, we get to see more dominant performances in the weeks to come.
