James Maddison talks of how Tottenham got lucky with Micky van de Ven
In a recent interview with Sky Sports about the Premier League, Tottenham stars Micky van de Ven and James Maddison appeared together. They spoke of their friendship, working with Ange Postecoglou and playing at Tottenham. This season is shaping up well for Spurs, and Maddison had much to say about that.
The most prominent moment of the interview where their camaraderie shone through was when Maddison spoke of Micky’s gameplay. With this season being one brimming with transfers for Spurs, Madders was sure to make it known that they got lucky with Micky.
The two were in agreement over how Tottenham Hotspurs deserved to play in the Champions League. Being in the top four will determine how much truth that statement holds but the club recently has been thriving and are very focused on qualifying. Their recent games have shown that there is new zest in playing.
Madders applauds Micky’s potential!
In speaking of Ange Postecoglou’s strategy of the game, James Maddison tried to determine the logic behind taking on a player like Micky. He said that the team was adjusting to an aggressive line of play in recent times. Therefore, Postecoglou went after Mickey because of his pace and physicality.
Additionally, Maddison was not hesitant to admit that Micky’s pace was like lightning. He knew that his teammate was extremely fast, which was something that hit you in the face after you watched him play. He said that his recovery runs, like against Palace, for example, were “out of this world”.
Micky did find himself flattered by the teammate’s words, and then finally, Maddison said that Tottenham got lucky. Postecoglou managed to get Micky to play for Spurs at a good price and he believes that the returns have been profitable because the price they paid has been far surpassed by Micky’s prowess in playing.
