Tottenham Hotspur eye Genoa star Albert Gudmundsson
Tottenham Hotspur are targeting Genoa breakout star Albert Gudmundsson for the upcoming summer transfer window according to a report by La Stampa (as relayed by FcInter1908). Spurs would be battling the Italian duo of AS Roma and Inter Milan to secure the signatures of the Iceland international.
Albert Gudmundsson has been one of the hottest prospects coming out of the ongoing campaign as he has been delivering on a consistent basis for Alberto Gilardino’s side this season. The 26-year-old can feature as number ten as well as on either flank.
Daniel Levy & Co. have been closely watching Albert Gudmundsson as various reports in Italian media indicate Tottenham’s heavy interest.
There was a report a couple of weeks back by NapoliCalcio24 which indicated that Tottenham have an advantage if they were to move for the 26-year-old as the officials at N17 hold a good relationship with Gudmundsson’s entourage. The report goes one step further and states that officials at North London ‘would be ready’ to meet Genoa’s financial demands for the Icelandic international.
However, according to La Stampa, the likes of Inter and Roma would be in conversation if he were to move away from Genoa. Italian side Fiorentina did attempt to sign Albert in the January transfer window although their offer was not entertained by the 26-year-old’s employers and now it would be difficult for Fiorentina to get their hands on him owing to the increased competition.
Genoa will make massive capital gains with the sale of Gudmundsson as they signed him in January 2022 for just over 1 million euros at a time when his contract with AZ Alkmaar was about to run out.
