Tottenham star Giovani Lo Celso talks about missing the Argentina win.
Tottenham star Giovani Lo Celso and player Nicolas Gonzalez have opened up about how they feel about missing Argentina’s World Cup win in 2022. Both are important players for Argentina and had to pull out due to injuries. After seeing a win come to Argentina after such a long wait, missing it was obviously hard. Direct TV Sports reported this in a recent interview with him.
The team managed to win a historic victory in Qatar against France. It took them nearly 36 years to win the coveted trophy. However, the two players have opened up about their emotional turmoil on the miss. The Tottenham midfielder was especially overt about talking about his feelings.
The two players healed and returned to the field only on March 28. Upon being interviewed, they both spoke about how emotional wearing the jersey again was. They spoke of the pure joy they felt when the team won the World Cup. However, that was tainted by the heartbreak that came with not being able to join in playing or celebrating.
Lo Celso speaks about his loss:
Lo Celso started the match for the World Cup champions in their 7-0 win vs. Curaçao and while he did not score, he was phenomenal on the pitch recently. He opened up about his missing performance from the World Cup by saying the following:
“It was very moving from the start. When I found out that the injury would prevent me from playing in the World Cup, I locked myself up and cried. But life gives and takes away. I was able to be at the birth of my daughter.”
Giovani Lo Celso
Giovani Lo Celso was highly regarded by coach Lionel Scaloni not only for his performances in the Argentine team but also for his great moments at Villarreal. He played a major role in helping Argentina win titles and even qualify for Qatar. However, he could not go to the World Cup which was a heartbreaking moment for fans.
In the game between Athletic Bilbao and Villarreal, Giovani Lo Celso suffered a muscle detachment that took him away for six to eight weeks. It was first thought to be a Grade 1 tear to the biceps in his right leg. It was speculated that he might be available soon. But, this was not the case. When the injury was confirmed, the Argentine was ruled out for Qatar.
