Ange Postecoglou speaks on Tottenham Hotspur’s £55m star’s lack of minutes.
Life under Ange Postecoglou has not been easy for £55m Tottenham Hotspur star, Giovani Lo Celso. The 27-year-old has struggled to get a lot of playing time, though, he has made 17 appearances, his quality warrants more.
Throughout his 17 appearances, Giovani has recorded two goals and two assists for the team. Here’s what Postecoglou had to say when asked about the 27-year-old’s lack of minutes with the Spurs.
“It is not just him.“
“he’s a fantastic player, but with all these things you’ve got to keep the perspective that we’re at a big club, we’re going to have a big squad and if it is not Gio, it will be someone else that will play that role next year.“
Postecoglou maintained that Tottenham Hotspur is a big club and someone will always have to ride the bench regardless of what happens. He added that with him contributions are the biggest thing.
He’s been happy with Lo Celso and says the 27-year-old has contributed to their season. As long as he continues to do the same Giovani will keep getting called up. However, the Argentine does make an effort to stay healthy.
Tottenham Hotspur have already been dealing with a ton of injuries this season. While Lo Celso helped Ange while he had a depleted squad, he also added to the depletion when he went down with a muscle injury earlier this season.
