Ange Postecoglou replies to fan concerns over Tottenham players having permission to shoot from distance.
If there’s one thing this season has taught us, it’s that Ange Postecoglou and his Tottenham are very methodical with their approach to football. The Greek-Australian coach fully stands by his tactics.
Recently Postecoglou was asked whether or not his players are allowed to shoot from distance, since the Spurs don’t usually do a ton of that. Let’s have a look at what he had to say regarding the fans’ concerns. (h/t Football.London)
Ok, ‘Are my players allowed to shoot’ is your question?’ (laughs) No look, I get that. Yes, they’re allowed to shoot.
I always think those kind of things are just a moment in time. I think if you look at the goals we’ve scored this season
Postecoglou later implied that while his players pretty much play a free-flowing game in the final third of the pitch. The Greek-Australian coach says he likes to keep things less structured when faced with the opponent’s goal.
He believes that letting the players go off of their instincts and play as their ability allows them to will lead to more goals for Tottenham Hotspur. If we think about it, Postecoglou’s tactics have worked out pretty well.
No one expected the Lilywhites to give any sort of competition once Harry Kane left the fold. However, Ange has completely turned the club around and they are now battling with Aston Villa to claim the top-four spot for themselves.
