Timo Werner has had a massive impact at Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur signed Timo Werner on loan from RB Leipzig in the January transfer window. His move to the North Londoners raised a few eyebrows among the pundits and the fans alike. Although the 27-year-old has proved critics wrong, he has been impressive since moving to N17 and has made an impact on numerous games he has been involved in under Ange Postecoglou.
Although he was not a regular starter as soon as he moved, he has slowly established himself with his new employers. Since moving to the Lilywhites, the German international has rounded up a tally of two goals and three assists in all competitions.
His impressive performances at White Hart Lane have earned him links to Manchester United for the upcoming summer transfer window. However, that’s not a lot to worry about for Spurs as they hold a buy option for his services of £15 million.
While the former Chelsea man has been brilliant for Spurs, any decisions about his permanent transfer are going to be delayed until the summer as they focus on finishing in the traditional top-four position.
A loan success story with the potential for permanence
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano in the CaughtOffside spoke in his Daily Briefing about Timo Werner being happy in London and wanting to move to Tottenham Hotspur on a permanent basis.
“Timo Werner is clear; he wants to stay at Tottenham, but Spurs will decide what they want to do closer to the end of the season, not now,” Fabrizio Romano said.

“There’s nothing we can add in terms of news as it’s the club’s stance and we can’t do anything about that. Spurs want to take their time and discuss things probably around May. Werner is happy at Tottenham, but it’s up to the club.”
It is fair that Tottenham are holding on to a decision until the summer, though owing to his impressive performances, he might have one foot through the doors at the N17.
