Harry Kane makes Emirates Stadium his own as he becomes highest-scoring visiting player after Champions League heroics
Following his goal in the Champions League quarterfinals yesterday, Harry Kane has now become the highest-scoring visiting player at the Emirates Stadium.
The England skipper scored Bayern Munich’s second goal of the night from the penalty spot just after the half-hour mark when Leroy Sane was brought down by William Saliba. This was the 30-year-old’s sixth goal at Arsenal’s new stadium, which makes him the highest-scoring visiting player at the ground.
The former Tottenham Hotspur striker went past Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy and Liverpool ace Diego Jota, who both have scored five goals at the Emirates.
Kane was ‘motivated’ to hurt Arsenal
Speaking ahead of the highly anticipated fixture, Thomas Tuchel backed Harry Kane to score in the UK capital:
“He has thrived on [the Arsenal fans’ taunts] many times now so I don’t think he will stop tomorrow,” Tuchel said his pre-match press conference.
“I think it’s very enjoyable for Harry to be here against Arsenal in the quarter-final of the Champions League. I think it will make him very happy to score.”
Tuchel continued, “I don’t see anything holding him back. I feel he is very motivated.”
It was an exciting affair down the lane, as Bukayo Saka scored with brilliant finesse to open the goal-scoring for the night. Although the Arsenal upper-hand didn’t last for long, a David Raya error led to the visitor’s equalizer through former Gunner player Serge Gnabry, while Harry Kane gave Thomas Tuchel’s side the lead in the 32nd minute. Mikel Arteta’s side got back, though, with a chaotic goal by Leanrdo Trossard, who scored his 13th goal of the season.
