From Spurs outcast to TOTW Hero; Sergio Reguilon rollercoaster ends on a high
Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilon has had a roller coaster of a season. He went from drowning down the pecking order to moving to Manchester United on loan, and as he started to find his feet at Old Trafford, they called it quits on the loan deal. He was still redundant at Spurs and was sent on a loan to Brentford in the winter transfer window.
Brentford were in the transfer market for a full-back after their first-choice left-back Rico Henry was ruled out of the season with a knee injury.
Reguilon signed for Tottenham from Real Madrid on a five-year deal worth £32 million in 2020. However, he has struggled to get going at Spurs, and that has led to a series of loan moves. That being said, it looks like he is finding his way to Brentford.
Reguilon’s brilliance earns him a place in EA FC TOTW
The 27-year-old performed brilliantly last weekend when the Bees drew to Tottenham’s top four rivals, Aston Villa, at Villa Park. The Spaniard assisted two goals while boasting five recoveries and a 100% duel rate.
Despite his brilliant efforts, Unai Emery’s team got back into the game thanks to a brace by Ollie Watkins. Though any points dropped by the rivals are as good as points earned, that draw has put Ange Postecoglou’s side in the driving seat for a traditional top-four finish.
Sergio Reguilon has earned an EA FC TOTW card for his brilliance at the weekend. He has an 87-rated LWB card with 91 pace, 70 shooting, 85 passing, 87 dribbling, 86 defending, and 81 physicality. He put up an Instagram story acknowledging his achievement.
