Newcastle United might not have their key midfielder against Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur will be gunning for all three points as they get set to take on Newcastle United in a highly anticipated Premier League fixture. Ange Postecoglou and his team have a big opportunity to solidify their place in the fourth spot.
The team has 60 points same as number five, West Ham United. However, the Lilywhites have a game in hand and a win will see them seal their place for the time being. As luck would have it, Newcastle is expected to miss their key midfielder against Tottenham.
Joe Willock has been dealing with a hamstring injury which has sidelined him for a bit. Fans were expecting him to be a part of the game against the Spurs. However, Eddie Howe has now confirmed his unavailability. Let’s have a look. (h/t NUFC)
“For Tottenham, I probably think he won’t be available for us. There’s a chance he will then be available throughout the rest of the season but that’s slightly unclear. We need to make sure the long-term prognosis for him is positive and that might mean a short period of rest.“
Howe added that he has felt bad for Joe Willock ever since he picked up an injury against Brighton last season. Ever since then, it has been difficult for the 24-year-old to find his rhythm and play consistent football.
This season alone Willock has missed 27 games in total. He has only made 14 appearances and has scored two goals. However, his time on the sidelines has been tough both for the team and for him.
Though the 24-year-old is close to a comeback, luckily for Tottenham it won’t be against them. Even though an injury is nothing to be happy about, the Spurs’ fans will surely smirk knowing Willock will be on the sidelines.
However, the Lilywhites will not be at full strength either. The team will be missing Richarlison tomorrow. The Brazilian star has been dealing with a knee injury and is not expected to be ready for the game.
