Tottenham handed big blow ahead of Newcastle United clash
Tottenham Hotspur are all set to take down Newcastle United tomorrow in a game that could decide plaster their place in the fourth spot. Currently, the Lilywhites are ahead of West Ham for fourth place, but only due to goal difference.
That too is not that big of a gap as West Ham have a GD of 17 compared to the Spurs’ 20. So, Ange Postecoglou and his men will be gunning for the win tomorrow. However, they will have to do so without their £60m South American star, Richarlison.
The 26-year-old has made 28 appearances this season scoring 11 goals while also recording three assists for Ange Postecoglou’s side. The Brazilian is Tottenham’s main striker but the team will have to operate without him as confirmed by Fabrizio Romano.
Richarlison has been dealing with a knee injury which has caused him to spend some time on the sidelines. Postecoglou says that he is close but will need the weekend off to be back at full strength.
The Greek-Australian coach also says that it is more important to have the Brazilian ready for the next two fixtures. After Newcastle United, Tottenham will be facing Arsenal on 28th April, followed by Chelsea on 2nd May.
Both games will be huge and the game against the Gunners could very well decide the Premier League title race this season. Postecoglou is right, having the 26-year-old star for the other two games is more important at the moment.
