Tottenham Hotspur eye out-of-contract Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo
Tottenham Hotspur have expressed interest in Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo, per The Mirror.
The North Londoners are in dire need of a centre-back in the off-season, as the Lilywhites season has been hampered on multiple occasions owing to a lack of quality depth in the position. Spurs did sign Radu Dragusin in the summer in a £26.7 million (€31 million) deal from Genoa after the Romanian international chose to join Spurs over Bayern Munich, but there is a keen likelihood that one more central defender will join Ange Postecoglou’s cause in the summer.
Tosin Adarabioyo’s contract at Craven Cottage expires this summer, and following multiple sets of negotiations on a potential extension with Fulham, it appears likely that he will leave West London on a free transfer at the conclusion of the ongoing season.
Will he be a Lilywhite? Adarabioyo is a target but other clubs lurk
Alongside Spurs, Italian giants AC Milan are also vying for his signing. Milan has a recent history of signing high-potential stars from the Premier League, and they want to add the 26-year-old centre-back to that growing list. The Reds from Milan are free to negotiate with the player and his representatives as of January, when the Manchester City academy graduate entered the final six months of his contract at Fulham.
In a bid to keep his services at Craven Cottage, a new contract offer was tabled last month with a significant pay rise to his current deal, but as the games leading up to the conclusion of the ongoing campaign continue, even Fulham have come to terms with losing their star defender.
Ligue 1 side AS Monaco tried to test Fulham’s resolve last summer with a £4.2 million offer. Fulham thought the amount was insufficient, and they attempted on what looked like an unsuccessful journey to try to win Adarabioyo over rather than losing him on a free transfer.
Alongside AC Milan, Spurs League rivals Liverpool have also expressed interest in landing Tosin Adarabioyo, although Mirror insists that it would be a big surprise if the 26-year-old ends up at the Merseyside Reds. West Ham are also lurking around to sign him.
Adarabioyo qualifies as a homegrown player, which adds to the significance beyond the pitch of adding him to the roster.
