Tottenham Hotspur are looking to cash in on Sergio Reguilon
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly looking to sell Sergio Reguilon in the upcoming summer transfer window as the club plans to raise funds from selling fringe players.
Transfer Insider senior journalist Pete O’Rourke, speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, revealed that there are expected to be a few inward and outward movements at White Hart Lane this summer.
Sergio Reguilon is having a roller coaster campaign this season. He is now on-loan at city neighbors Brentford after spending his first season on-loan at Manchester United, which was called splits by the Red Devils in the winter window as Luke Shaw made his injury comeback.
He has made 67 appearances wearing Tottenham colours after signing from Real Madrid on a five-year deal worth £32 million in 2020. However, his struggles to find his feet at Spurs have led to a series of loan moves. The 27-year-old spent time out on loan at Real Madrid rivals Atletico Madrid as well.
The rise of Destiny Udogie has more or less shut the door at the N-17 for the Spaniard. As things stand, it is difficult to see him overtake the Italian in the Spurs’ pecking order.
Loan Spell Spurs sale?
That being said, the Real Madrid Castilla graduate is finding his feet at Brentford. Reguilon has made 11 appearances for the Bees since his loan move in the winter, providing three assists as Thomas Frank’s team attempts to clinch another decent Premier League finish.
However, he is anticipated to return to North London at the conclusion of the ongoing campaign, while his long-term future with the Lilywhites remains uncertain. This comes as Destiny Udogie has progressed in his position at the club while he was away chasing pastures. The Italian international has established himself as one of the first names on the team-sheet under the Australian boss.
