Olmo to North London? Tottenham Hotspur eye creative reinforcement
Tottenham Hotspur are keeping close tabs on RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo, and the club could look to lure away a possible move for the Spanish star if they don’t face significant competition for his services in the summer window, per GIVEMESPORT.
Spurs gaffer Ange Postecoglou has looked to add creativity to his disposal since he took over the reins last summer. This resulted in the £40 million acquisition of James Maddison from relegated Leicester City. However, as the squad progresses, the club would want to add depth and high-ceiling players at the Australian’s disposal, and that is where links to Dani Olmo make sense.
GMS understands that the 25-year-old would add creative depth to the squad, and he has been identified by the manager as someone who could fit into his style of play while also having the space to nurture his potential at Tottenham, given that he is still to enter his peak years.
Any potential arrival of Dani Olmo to White Hart Lane would result in James Maddison facing stiff competition in the attacking midfield role. While the England international has had his injury issues throughout the season, Olmo is not just a back-up figure, as his stats eclipse those of the Tottenham midfielder in the final third in almost every particular.
The La Masia graduate has exceptional abilities and has been a mainstay in Spain’s national squad, as he has 33 caps for his country.
Leipzig connection key? Tottenham hope Werner deal helps lure Dani Olmo
Alongside the North Londoners, Manchester United are also interested in bringing Olmo to Old Trafford this summer.
Daniel Levy and the officials at the club would want to leverage the already-established relationship with the Red Bull-owned German giants to sign the 25-year-old. They are said to have remained in touch with the officials at RB Leipzig since signing Timo Werner on loan during the January window.
Spurs have also negotiated a £15 million buy clause with Leipzig for Werner while covering his full salary. The club is expected to take advantage of the permanent option in the Werner deal and is hoping that Timo Werner can help them lure Olmo to North London.
