No Future at N17? Former scout insists Gil needs to move on from Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur winger Bryan Gil has been linked with a move away from N17, and former Millwall goalkeeper Bryan King believes the 23-year-old has no future at White Hart Lane.
The Spaniard moved to North London in a highly anticipated transfer from Sevilla in 2021. The club secured his services after sanctioning a mammoth £21 million fee, with Erik Lamela heading the other way to Sevilla. Despite the hefty fees the transfer carried, the acquisition of the silky winger was seen as a bargain deal by many.
However, things have not worked out the way they were anticipated. Gil has struggled to get into the first-team squad at N17 and has already spent a couple of loans away from the club. While he stayed in North London for the 2023–24 season, Ange Postecoglou has played him sparingly throughout the ongoing season.
“He Needs to Move On” – Bryan King urges Gil to seek Spurs exit
Fueling rumors of his probable sale, former Spurs scout Brayn King insists that the Spaniard does not have the confidence of the gaffer and that there might not be a future for him at Hotspur Way beyond the upcoming summer transfer window.
Bryan King, in an exclusive interview with Tottenham Hotspur News, said:
“As long as Postecoglou is there, Gil has no future at Tottenham. He clearly doesn’t have the confidence of Postecoglou because he hasn’t been playing regularly. Therefore, if he wants first-team football, I think he needs to look elsewhere and move on from Tottenham.
“Sometimes in football, you do need to accept that you’re going to make a loss on a player.”
