Napoli are considering a move for underused Tottenham Hotspur star

As reported by Italian publication La Gazzetta (h/t Football-Italia), Napoli have reignited their interest in underused Tottenham Hotspur star, Giovani Lo Celso. The 28-year-old has played just 567 minutes through 19 appearances this season.

Lo Celso has been unable to win the trust of Tottenham’s new coach, Ange Postecoglou which has led to a lot of increased time on the bench. Now, the Argentine’s contract is expiring next year so he’ll be available during the upcoming transfer window.

Lo Celso is surely capable of playing at a high level. However, his form has declined in recent days and the fact that he will soon hit 30 is not doing a lot of wonders for his stock. If Tottenham want to make some money off the Argentine, now would be the time.

If the Spurs decide to wait and not sell Lo Celso this summer, they will risk losing him on a free transfer next year. The Lilywhites paid a total of £55m to sign the 28-year-old back in 2019.

Surely, the team will want to recuperate at least some amount of that money if a sale is to be made. Now Napoli might be showing interest but a lot depends on how their team looks at the end of the season.

The Italian side is set to undergo a ton of changes with the impending arrival of their new sporting director and head coach looming over them. Likely, Napoli will not make a move until both new men are in place at the club.

Whatever becomes of their summer, Tottenham should definitely try and make a profit from Lo Celso if Napoli approach with an offer this summer.
