£21m misfire? Tottenham star Bryan Gil linked with exit after barren spell
Tottenham Hotspur ace Bryan Gil has been subject to links away from the club as reports around the Spaniard’s openness about leaving White Hart Lane emerge.
The North Londoners signed the 23-year-old in a highly anticipated move from Spanish giants Sevilla in 2021. Daniel Levy secured his services for a colossal £21 million fee, complemented by Erik Lamela heading the other way to Seville. Irrespective of the immense financial burden that the transfer carried, the acquisition of the Spaniard was seen as a bargain deal by many.
However, the silky winger couldn’t find his feet at N17 and has struggled to meet his potential in his three-year stay at the club. He has spent a couple of those years away on loan in his home country. There were expectations that Gil would find his form under Ange Postecoglou; however, he has been sparingly used by the Australian boss.
His record at the club serves as a true testament to his struggles at Tottenham. He has recorded only 42 appearances in the span of three years at N17 while providing only two assists and failing to find the back of the net while donning the Spurs shirt.
Will he stay or go? Bryan Gil considers future as Feyenoord circle
Dutch club Feyenoord has been linked with a potential transfer for Tottenham’s struggling starlet, per 1908.nl. Bryan Gil is ready to part ways with his current employers if a club with ambitious projects approaches for his services this summer.
Feyenoord believe that Bryan Gil has the potential to be a vital player for them. He has the capacity to add to their offense, and his versatility to feature on both flanks and as an attacking midfielder will provide with several alternatives.
The Dutch side are trying to sign the 23-year-old on permanent basis and have made an initial bid of less than €10 million (add-ons not included) in early April. They are looking to cling on to the silky winger and try to bring their potential target in the summer.
