High-stakes North London Derby as Arsenal chase glory and Spurs aim for Europe
Tottenham Hotspur are set to face Arsenal in a highly anticipated North London Derby, while one team chases glory, the other chases probable contention with the European elites, and we are about to witness a high-stakes derby at the N17.
Mikel Arteta’s side have regained their explosive form, with the latest of their wins coming against London rivals Chelsea, as the Gunners thrashed Mauricio Pochettino’s side with five goals to nil. They are a well-drilled machine that works impeccably.
While Arsenal have been playing every three days, Ange Postecoglou’s side had a two-week hiatus after a horrendous performance against Newcastle United, where the Lilywhites were outsmarted by Eddie Howe’s side at St. James Park. However, the vows didn’t last long, as Tottenham got a sweet two-week break before heading into the business end of the season.
This break could prove to be very beneficial for the final run-in, as the players will come out fresher and have more tanks in them. Moreover, a couple of players took their time to recover from their respective injuries.
Two-week break a disadvantage for Tottenham?
As Arsenal are set to visit White Hart Lane, the predictions have started, and the media is all about the Derby headlines. One of the predictions comes from highly renowned Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher. The former Liverpool defender cites the two-week break that Spurs incurred and insists that it could play against them in a high-intensity game.
Speaking on The Overlap by SkyBet, Jamie Carragher said:
“I think Arsenal won; Tottenham haven’t played for a long time, something like ten days or two weeks, which I don’t think is a good thing. I’m going 2-1 Arsenal.”
