Alessandro Buongiorno to N17? Tottenham Hotspur eye Italian defender amidst competition
Tottenham Hotspur are looking to acquire Torino defender Alessandro Buongiorno, as the North Londoners are open to paying up the asking price of €40 million for his services, per Fichajes.
The North Londoners are keen to acquire a new defender in the upcoming summer transfer window. The Lilywhites have to make do with full-backs playing in the heart of the defence as fillers at some point this season, and Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou would want to have formidable depth in the season to follow. This comes despite the Lilywhites signing Radu Dragusin in January from Genoa in a £26.7 million (€31 million) deal with the Italian club after the Romanian international chose to join the North Londoners over Bayern Munich.
The club is expected to push through on at least a new defensive acquisition this summer. Spurs will need more depth and options, especially if they bring Champions League football to the N17 next campaign.
Premier League trio and Italian giants in race for Tottenham target
Daniel Levy & Co. are targeting Alessandro Buongiorno; however, they will face competition from Premier League duo Arsenal and Chelsea. The Italian Milan-based duo of Inter Milan and AC Milan are also said to be targeting the Italian defender.
Torino are said to be demanding a €40 million fee for the 1999-born defender.
Buongiorno has established himself in Italian football, and he would love any opportunity to demonstrate that in England as well. The rumoured transfer may appear to be a bargain, especially if he can replicate his current form with Torino and reach his full potential in the following seasons.
