Blow for Tottenham as Timo Werner undergoes scans after picking up injury against Arsenal
Tottenham Hotspur are waiting in anticipation as they continue to assess the Timo Werner injury blow in the weekend’s North London Derby ahead of their game against Chelsea in the mid-week.
The RB Leipzig loanee is a doubt for a Chelsea reunion as he undergoes further scans to assess whether he will be available for Spurs for the Premier League season run-in following a hamstring injury he picked up on Sunday.
The 28-year-old has been impressive playing on the left flanks since his loan transfer to the N17 in the January transfer window; however, he went out holding the back of his right leg after 31 minutes of the 3-2 north London derby defeat by Arsenal at White Hart Lane. He has established his services as undisputable under Ange Postecoglou, having made five consecutive starts before holding his arms up.
Spurs could face Chelsea without key forward Werner
In the post-game press conference after a painful derby defeat, Tottenham boss added salt to Spurs’ wounds as he confirmed Werner’s hamstring injury. The Australian tactician said (via. The Standard):
“He felt his hamstring,” said Postecoglou afterwards. “We will find out the extent of it.”
