Season and Euros over? Tottenham star Werner ruled out with hamstring injury
Tottenham Hotspur received a major setback when RB Leipzig loanee Timo Werner pulled his hands up at the weekend against Arsenal. While there were no expectations given the extent of his injury, the worst feared thing happened as the German international was ruled out of the season with a hamstring injury.
The North Londoners manager Ange Postecoglou confirmed that the former Chelsea ace would not be taking any further part in the season in his press conference on Wednesday:
“With only three weeks left to play, he won’t be coming back.”
Alongside his season, there is a possibility that this could also be his chance to participate in the EUROs with Germany.
Bargain or bust? Decision looms for Tottenham over Werner’s permanent move
Many fear this could be the last they see of Timo Werner in a Tottenham shirt, as there has been no movement on a permanent transfer and his loan deal from RB Leipzig is set to expire at the end of the season. The Lilywhites do have the option to make his move a permanent one; however, there have been no indications about whether Spurs are going to take up the option just yet.
Timo Werner’s return to England has been a successful one, having made his services undisputed in Ange Postecoglou’s starting eleven on the left flank. He has scored two goals in thirteen appearances for the Spurs.
It is unclear where his future belongs right now. Tottenham do have a purchase option of 17 million euros, and the Australian gaffer has been all-praising about the German international lately. There is a possibility that Spurs will still take up the option, per Bild, as his services come at a bargain transfer fee.
