Ange Postecoglou explains his pre-match set-piece comments following the conclusion of Tottenham against Chelsea

Tottenham Hotspur’s recent loss to Chelsea will come as a gut punch to the fans. Everyone had their fingers crossed and the people wanted to see the Lilywhites soar above the Blues and get closer to a top-four spot.

However, things couldn’t have been worse for Ange Postecoglou and his squad. Nothing went to plan for the team and they ended up dropping three points thanks to their 2-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge.

Postecoglou was understandably not happy with the performance of the team but was also bothered with a moment in the game that ‘no one cares about’. Here’s what he had to say following the loss. (h/t Independent)

“I still think their goal is a foul but no one cares about that and we didn’t deserve anything more than that.”

“if people want to think that what we are missing is set pieces that is fine, I will do my job.”

As Postecoglou explained his set-piece comments he also added that his team has lost some convictions and belief in their football. The Greek-Australian coach hinted that the issue lies in the midfield but the players shouldn’t be blamed.

Ange owned up to the loss and is already looking forward to putting on a better display in the team’s last outing. There aren’t a lot of games left to play and the Lilywhites absolutely cannot afford to drop more points.

If Tottenham aren’t perfect from now till the end of the season, the team can say goodbye to their hopes of playing in the Champions League next season.
