Ange Postecoglou sheds light on the future of Tottenham forward, Timo Werner
Timo Werner has been an excellent signing for Tottenham Hotspur. The Lilywhites got the 28-year-old on loan back in January. Since then, Timo has made 14 appearances for the team recording two goals and three assists.
He’s given a much-needed offensive spark and most importantly has added some desperately needed depth to the squad. However, his loan deal is coming to an end soon and questions about his future have started to echo.
Ange Postecoglou recently gave his thoughts on the situation and whether Tottenham would be willing to trigger €17m clause to retain the 28-year-old forward. Let’s have a look (h/t The Daily Briefing)
“We will decide at the end of the season.”
“We need to discuss the strategy and then decide. I think he’s been very good for us.”
Postecoglou also stated that he and his team will have to take a look at where Timo fits in. Only then will the back office be able to reach a decision. However, as always the manager indicated that it is a decision for the summer and will be taken then.
But, Postecoglou saying that Werner has been very good for Tottenham does give hope to his supporters. The 28-year-old forward might not be world-class but he lifts his weight and makes a positive impact on the squad.
While things are already looking good for Timo, he could’ve made a better case for himself. However, his recent injury will likely keep him out for the rest of the season.
