Jamie Redknapp highlights one major thing affecting Spurs
Tottenham Hotspur just didn’t have enough to deal any real damage to Chelsea during their last outing. The Lilywhites fell 2-0 at Stamford Bridge and their hopes of playing the Champions League next season are now in doubt.
Aston Villa sit in fourth place with 67 points. The Spurs are trailing by seven points and have a game in hand. It is a wonder how Tottenham went from being one of the most competitive teams earlier during the season to barely being in the top five a few months later.
Jamie Redknapp says one change has affected the Spurs’ season a lot. They have lost a crucial part of their time during the time between the start of the season and now. Here’s what Redknapp had to say about it. (h/t Independent)
“Midfield was a real engine room at the start of the season.”
“Right now he has changed it today and players aren’t playing at the same level as they were earlier in the season”
Redknapp added that Tottenham had one of the best midfield in the league during the start of the season. However, the engine has now died down and this was highlighted by how the team failed to create a lot against Chelsea’s relatively poor defence.
Redknapp says the team has to compete every week if they want to be successful. That will be the plan for Ange Postecoglou and his men as they try and make one final run towards the bitter end of the season.
There might not be a lot of time left and it’s not in their hands, but the Lilywhites need to compete till the end if they wish to get something out of this season.
