Romano’s news regarding the race for Santiago Gimenez will surely please Tottenham fans
Tottenham Hotspur have long been linked to Feyenoord striker, Santiago Gimenez. The 23-year-old has been stellar this season recording a total of 24 goals and seven assists for his team in 40 appearances.
It goes without saying that the Lilywhites’ fans would love to have a player of Gimenez’s quality on their team. However, the Spurs are not the only ones in the race to sign the Mexican forward and PL rivals Arsenal could be an issue.
But, Fabrizio Romano has provided a positive update on the Gunners’ pursuit which will please the Tottenham fans. Let’s have a look at what the famed journo had to say on the subject. (h/t The Daily Briefing)
“In this moment, I’m not aware of advanced discussions or negotiations.”
“Arsenal are looking for an offensive player, but at the moment, I’m not aware of concrete contacts with Santi Jimenez.”
Romano reiterated that he is not aware of any concrete interest and also stated that Gimenez would be a cheaper option for them. The team is more likely to go for the higher quality option, Viktor Gyokeres.
However, Romano also said that Gimenez is more likely to move since Feyenoord boss, Arne Slot is also heading over to the Premier League. The Dutch manager will be taking over Liverpool from the starting of next season.
One could speculate that this increases the possibility of the Reds signing Gimenez this summer. However, there has been no talk suggesting that the 23-year-old striker would be interested in falling his manager to Anfield.
Seems like it’s open season for Santiago Gimenez and the fans will be happy now that they now even Tottenham have a chance to sign the striker.
